Old Bidlake Farm will be open from Monday 4th July to Sunday 4th September. Pitch price £60 per night.

Our Story

Our story began in 2011 when we pitched four traditional Bell Tents on our beautiful meadow, with an idea to offer ‘Hassle Free Camping’  and the chance of sleeping under the stars, close to nature and free from the stresses of everyday life. It was a little before the coining of the term ‘Glamping’, but over the next decade we watched with interest and delight as the industry flourished all around us, whilst ensuring that we remained firmly rooted in our focus to offer an authentic but supremely comfortable camping experience in the countryside.

In 2021 in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic we decided to pack away our Bell Tents and offer eight enormous camping pitches spread equally between the Orchard and the Meadow. By chance this adaptation appears to have created something really quite unique. We have blended low site occupancy levels and gigantic camping pitches with the facilities and personal service normally only experienced at a glamping venue.

Our Campsite

We offer eight gigantic pitches, outstanding facilities and the warmest of welcomes all set within the spectacular location of the AONB Marshwood Vale.

It has always been our aim to tread lightly on the environment and to allow the landscape to take centre stage, so we don’t provide hot-tubs or electric hook ups and we have just a scattering of solar fairy lights at night to preserve the mystical starry skies. With the help of the Dorset Wildlife Trust we have been working to make our land a small oasis for wildlife amongst the surrounding farming landscape. We have let our hedgerows grow free and wild for over ten years now, we have planted oak trees and a wildflower meadow and we are looking into the possibility of growing flax, a crop which has both great environmental credentials and local heritage.

We also place great importance upon our campers comfort. At each pitch we provide a rocket stove and a picnic bench. There is a communal field shelter with a covered dining area on the meadow. The Barn houses two kitchen areas, two shower rooms, four flush toilets and our magical ‘Rainy Day Room’ full of books, guides, games, toys and other treasures.

We hope we have the balance right but there is always more that we can do. There are many other projects on our ‘wish list’ for the campsite, such as converting our energy to solar power.

Our Location

Don’t worry that the price to pay for this rural idyll will be a scarcity of culture and activity. We are two miles from the vibrant Market Town of Bridport, a hub for art, music and food lovers and just a ten minute drive to the Jurassic Coast.

Our Guests

Many of our campers have returned year after year to Old Bidlake Farm and tell us that our campsite holds a magical charm that makes it like no other. We are most definitely a family friendly campsite and whilst we also welcome couples and small groups we emphasise that during the peak season our campsite community is predominantly made up of families.

For the 2022 Season we will be accepting flexible arrival dates and a minimum two night stay.

Group bookings are limited to a maximum of four pitches and groups must always make themselves known at the time of booking.

Regretfully for the 2022 season we will not be hosting Exclusive Hire Bookings.

As a quiet site in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty we operate a strict no amplified music policy and all noise must be kept to a minimum after 10.00pm.

Please note that without exception we do not accommodate dogs.
